The Convergence of Corporate Governance and Corporate Social Responsibility – Thought Leaders Study

Corporate governance reform efforts of the past decade have bumped into decade-old efforts to mainstream social and environment responsibility of corporations and a growing awareness that firms’ off balance sheet environmental and social impacts can have tangible financial consequences. This encounter has fueled a debate regarding the degree and nature of convergence between corporate governance and corporate social responsibility. The Canadian Co-operative Association, interested in promoting good governance and social responsibility practices to its member cooperatives, sponsored Coro Strandberg to conduct an international thought-leaders study on this convergence issue.
